THE ANDREA LYNN The M/V Andrea Lynn is currently owned by Gustavo Velez who also operates the M/V Erik out of San Felipe Mexico. Gustavo purchased the Andrea Lynn in the fall of 2005 with the superstructure completely burnt in Puerto Penasco. Our group and Gustavo partnered to attempt to bring liveaboard diving to the northern Sea of Cortez. This is quite challenging because on full or new moon tides the tidal exchange is so severe that it makes diving work instead of pleasure. All of our trips are planned on quarter moon phases for this reason. Without the alternate use of this boat for the other 2 weeks of the month as a sportfishing platform, a dive operation would be difficult to operate. The boat is 130 ft long and 30 ft wide so it rides very stable. There are 10 individual staterooms approximately 10’ X 12” with individual heads/showers and Independent climate controlled air conditioners.. With 3 decks, there is plenty of room for the 30 or so passengers. The ship operates as a mothership for up to 10 pangas or skiffs from which to dive or fish. This gives each mini-group the ability to direct their own pangadero and plan their day according to their schedule. On dive trips, we will rarely move the mothership during daylight hours so your day is your own. Each panga holds 8 tanks in racks and they are filled by pulling up beside the compressor room. We have 2 -15 c.f.m compressors and a bank system so we can fill up to 60 tanks in 1 hour.
